… your CDP candidate for Maitland
Local Bachelor of Education student, Anna Balfour, C.D.P. candidate for the electorate of Maitland for the forthcoming State election, is a fresh young voice in our political arena.
Anna is committed to working hard for the well-being of all of her constituents in Maitland and surrounds, if elected.
Anna has long been passionate about politics, recognizing that the political arena is the hub of decision-making for the direction that both our country’s and our society’s future will take.
“Re-opening Beresfield police station is essential for the safety and peace of mind of my constituents in the areas surrounding Beresfield, including Woodberry and Thornton”, Anna asserts. “Greater policing is imperative to ensure the safety of all citizens of our community, where too many kids, speeding in cars full of other kids, are maimed and dying in accidents.”
“The roads in the Maitland electorate must be maintained in optimally safe condition”, Anna declares. “Every one of us, when we get into our vehicle, deserves to know that we have the best chance of reaching our destination safely.”
“More hospitals are needed in the region”, Anna maintains. “For many years Maitland has been among the fastest population growth areas in Australia. Most of us are aware that over this period, queues in the Emergency Department at Maitland Hospital have grown and grown, so that, despite a fancy new facade on the hospital street front, sick and suffering people wait for hours to be seen by a doctor – in this, a first world country.”
“With many voters suffering mortgage stress, Hunter Water must return to customers what they billed us all, for the construction of the now abandoned Tillegra Dam.”
“For the sake of a kind and hopeful society, the members of which can derive a sense of personal meaning and purpose from the life we live, I am committed to advocating that Scripture in schools not be displaced by another curriculum that could be run as well as, rather than instead of letting children learn about their Heavenly Father, who made them and loves them.”
“I will promote life in our society and resist moves to promote death of the frail and vulnerable, including the old, infirm and unborn. I believe firmly, also, that a child has the right to be adopted into a home where it may have role models of both mother and father.”
The Christian Democratic Party’s slogan for the forthcoming election is ”Honesty, Helping the poor, Seeking justice, Guiding policy and Protecting communities”.
