SOCIAL SECURITY

The way a society look after their vulnerable citizens is a demonstration of the level of compassion of that community and it is through the Department of Social Security that the Australian vulnerable people recieve assistance. The Christian Democratic Party believe this assistance needs to be adquate to be able to live in reasonable comfort and as such the current level of both unemployment and pensions seem to be sigificantly below levels that they ough to be. Via Social Security assistance with at least housing, transport, esentail utilities, rate relief, and medical expenses beyond the actual social welfare payments. Unless there is a demonstrated issue of appalling financial management the recipitants ought to be able to make their own decisions as to how to spend the finances made available to them. Having a low inflation economy is very helpful to the most vulnerable in our communities and this low inflation rate economy ought to be the goal of our governments. The Christian Democratic Party accepts that compassion towards the vulnerable must be the default position of all governments and we will fight to have this front and center of all government policies.
